Awards and Board Installation

Its the end of our fiscal year and we always end it with a bang! Please join us for our annual Awards and Board Installation Dinner on July 3rd.

At the  diner will be handing our our year image comp awards including category awards, Photographer of the Year, Image of the Year, as well as Fellowship and Service Medals. During the evening we will also be welcoming the new Board of Directors to guide our group during the next year.

Bring a model or a friend and lets have fun! No children please! This place is not for kids and needs attention to placement of models and photographers to be safe. There is broken glass, oil, smashed cars, sharp items etc… the perfect place for a cool shoot! Please be aware of the areas you are in. Directions: Interstate 5 South to Main Street exit turn left and go east. The Wrecking Yard is just past the train tracks and the Storage place on the right side of the street. We’re going to have a fun time! See you there

In Hanson’s Program

The key element to being a successful photographer is to make people look great. Hanson is known for his animated teaching skills as well as his photographic prowess. How does one get the most out of a DSLR? When should an automatic setting be used? Manual? What about sunny or cloudy days? He will decipher the very basics of a DSLR, its various uses, and uncover the mysteries of your camera. Secondly, he will teach you how to create perfect photographic harmony by demonstrating how to handle any subject’s body size and type. A live demonstration of the Classic 10 poses, that Hanson has mastered and pioneered, will assist you in posing any person, regardless of weight and/or height. His technique will enable you to pose any family grouping, couple, or a bridal couple. In addition to hands on posing, Hanson will discuss lighting techniques. You will learn how to photograph under any lighting condition, indoors or outdoors, any place, anytime. His approach to finding the “light” is simple and uncomplicated. Proper lighting and posing will help you create highly desirable and timeless photographs.

The USS Midway Museum is located at 910 North Harbor Drive, San Diego, California, 92101, alongside Navy Pier. Description: Come Visit this historic Navy Vessel.

Our Group rate for groups of 10 or more $14.00 each adult and $8.00 each youth (6 to 17yrs). 5 and under are free as well as active military with ID. Seniors or Retired Military $11.00. Come spend the morning with us as we see all the levels of this ship and the planes and living quarters. There is so much to see on this magnificent ship. Wear your comfortable shoes, no heels! Please set aside this time so we can get the special discount. We need 10 or more or its regular price of $18.Bring a friend, your child or even a model!

Directions: Take I -8 east to the Lake Jennings off ramp. Turn left at the stop light and go north a couple blocks, turn right onto Harritt Road and continue on, this will take you into Lake Jennings. As you enter the Lake stay to the right where it says “Fishing”. This will take you up to the Bait and Tackle Shop. We will meet at 2pm.  

Admission: is $1 per person and that includes your parking. Please pay inside the B&T shop. There are maps and refreshments and worms and all sorts of things inside the shop.  

We can drive half way around the Lake stopping where ever we’d like to scout around and shoot all the beautiful scenes. We’ll carpool as we drive around the lake, so as to keep the group together and have more time to visit. There are several types of boat rentals available also, if you would like to be out on the water. There are parking areas at 20, 19 and 16 see the Lake Jennings map in the B&T shop.
