Speaker Bio
John Raymond Mireles has been incredibly fortunate to spend the past 30 years as a professional photographer. He’s photographed big budget ad campaigns for clients from around the country, worked for magazines and shot weddings from Japan to Jamaica. Now he focuses on creating works of contemporary art for gallery, public and museum installations.
In 2016, he moved to New York City to further his career as a contemporary artist. While there, he installed a 1/4 mile long public exhibition of portrait photos taken of Americans in all 50 states. This exhibition was included in both the New York Times and The Guardian’s list of top public art installations for 2018. In 2019, John moved back to San Diego where he once again lives full time.
The Contemporary Art Photographer
Artist John Raymond Mireles will share highlights from his career as a commercial, editorial and wedding photographer and discuss how he’s transitioned into the world of contemporary art. He’ll open wide the process for exhibiting work in galleries, museums and in public spaces. This lecture is a not to be missed by any artist or photographer hoping to show or sell their work as contemporary art.
